Ideal weight calculator
Estimate your ideal body weight from your height and sex using the Devine formula, alongside the healthy weight range for your height (BMI 18.5–24.9). It's a guide, not a target — body composition matters more than a single number.
- Healthy range (BMI 18.5–24.9)
- 58.6–78.9 kg
A reference figure (Devine). Muscle isn't accounted for — composition matters more.
The basics
What is Ideal Weight?
Ideal weight is an estimate, not a rule. The Devine formula gives a single reference figure from your height and sex, while the healthy BMI range (18.5–24.9) gives a sensible band for your height. Neither accounts for muscle, so athletic, muscular people sit above their reference figure and are still healthy.
How to use it
- 1Pick your sex. The reference formula differs slightly for men and women.
- 2Enter your height. Input your height in centimetres.
- 3Read your estimate. Your reference ideal weight and healthy range appear instantly.
FAQ
Ideal Weight Calculator — questions
How do I calculate my ideal weight?
A common method is the Devine formula: 50 kg (men) or 45.5 kg (women) plus 2.3 kg for every inch over 5 feet of height. We also show your healthy weight range from BMI. Both are guides, not targets.
Is ideal body weight accurate?
It's a rough reference that ignores muscle, frame and body fat, so a lean, muscular person may weigh more than their ideal figure and be perfectly healthy. Track body composition and how you look and feel.
