The basics
What is Running Pace?
Pace is how long it takes to cover a set distance — usually minutes per kilometre or mile. From one effort we can also predict your times at other distances using Riegel's formula, which assumes pace slows slightly as distance grows. Useful for setting race goals and training zones.
How to use it
- 1Enter a distance. Input a distance you've run, in kilometres.
- 2Enter your time. Input how long it took, in minutes.
- 3Read pace & predictions. Your pace, speed and predicted race times appear instantly.
FAQ
Running Pace Calculator — questions
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your time by the distance. 50 minutes over 10 km is 5:00 per km. This calculator also converts to pace per mile and speed in km/h.
Can it predict my marathon time?
Yes — using Riegel's formula it predicts your 5K, 10K, half and marathon times from one effort. Predictions assume appropriate training for the longer distance.
