Calories burned calculator
Estimate calories burned from exercise using METs: calories per minute = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200. Heavier people and harder activities burn more. It's an estimate — real burn varies with intensity and fitness.
- Per minute
- 11.6 kcal
- Duration
- 45 min
About 11.6 kcal/min at 8.3 METs. An estimate — actual burn varies.
The basics
What is Calories Burned?
This estimates the energy you burn during an activity using its MET value (metabolic equivalent of task). One MET is roughly your resting metabolic rate; an 8-MET activity burns about eight times that. The formula — calories/min = MET × 3.5 × weight in kg ÷ 200 — comes from the Compendium of Physical Activities. Treat it as a ballpark; trackers and individuals vary.
How to use it
- 1Pick your activity. Choose the activity closest to what you did.
- 2Enter weight & time. Input your bodyweight and how many minutes you trained.
- 3Read the estimate. Your estimated calorie burn appears instantly.
FAQ
Calories Burned Calculator — questions
How are calories burned calculated?
From the activity's MET value and your bodyweight: calories per minute = MET × 3.5 × weight in kg ÷ 200, times the minutes you exercised. Heavier people and harder activities burn more.
Are calories-burned estimates accurate?
They're a reasonable ballpark, not exact — real expenditure depends on intensity, fitness, terrain and efficiency. Use it for comparison, and don't 'eat back' every estimated calorie.
