Set-up

The descent 4. Lower your body as a single rigid unit — chest, hips and knees descend together. There should be no sag at the hips and no pike. 5. Chin leading the chest — the neck extends to make the rep look deeper than it is. The chin should not contact the floor first. Fix: look at a point on the floor 30–40 cm in front of your hands.

Partial range — stopping when elbows reach 90° halves the effective training stimulus. Lower fully. If you cannot, regress the variation.

Regressions: Start Here if You Cannot Do a Full Push-Up

The incline push-up is your best friend. By raising your hands on a bench, step, or wall, you reduce the percentage of bodyweight you need to lift. The higher your hands, the easier the movement. Progress by gradually lowering the surface height over weeks.
